Registration designation
A political grouping (party) that wishes to participate in the election for members of our general government under a particular name ("appellation") may register it. The appellation will then appear above the list of candidates and on the ballot paper. You must submit a request for registration to the central electoral committee for the elections to the general board of Hoogheemraadschap Hollands Noorderkwartier. To register, please use the registration form. It can be found at the bottom of this page.
Submission deadline
Your registration request had to be received by the central election office by December 19, 2022. This also applied to the deposit.
Who needs to register?
A political group that already has a seat in our General Assembly does not need to register. This also applies to parties already registered nationwide in the Electoral Council's register for elections to the House of Representatives. Thus, registration was only necessary if you want to participate in the elections with a new party.
By the way, you are not required to register an appellation. If you do not, you can participate in the elections with a 'blank list'. Above the list of candidates you will then find only a number and no name.
Attachments
Your request for registration required you to include the following documents:
- notarial deed (copy) establishing the statutes of the political grouping and showing that political activities are being carried out in any way. The political group must be an association with full legal capacity or a foundation;
- proof of registration (original) with the Chamber of Commerce (not older than six months);
- proof of payment of the deposit;
- statement of the appointment of an agent and an alternate agent. This declaration is part of the registration form.
Security deposit
The deposit for registration is €225. Payment should be made by transferring this amount to account number NL16 NWAB 0636 7539 99 in the name of Hoogheemraadschap Hollands Noorderkwartier, stating 'deposit for registration of elections'. After payment, you will receive a receipt. You will receive the deposit back if your group submits a valid list of candidates for the next election. The deposit will be refunded to the account number from which it was paid.
Spelling indications
- The designation consists of a maximum of 35 characters. These are: letters, possibly supplemented by numbers or other characters, if functional in relation to the rest of the indication. Punctuation marks and spaces are not included.
- In your writing, make a clear distinction between upper and lower case letters. This distinction is carried over into the designation.
- It makes no sense to use a special font. The same goes for using italics, bold or underlined characters. This layout will not be reproduced in the designation.
- Logos, trademarks, images or emoticons will not be registered.
More information can be found in the Electoral Council's Policy Rules on Appellations.
Rating designation
The central electoral college reviews your designation. Rejection decisions may be made in the following cases, among others:
- The designation is contrary to public policy.
- The appellation is confusing because it is wholly or substantially similar to an already registered appellation of another political group, or to an appellation for which a request for registration was previously received.
- The designation is confusing because it is wholly or substantially similar to a designation registered for the benefit of the House of Representatives.
- The designation is otherwise misleading to voters.
- The designation contains more than 35 letters or other characters.
Signature of authorized directors
Names and positions of authorized directors must match the data in the articles of association and the certificate of registration from the Chamber of Commerce (Commercial Register).
Decision by the central electoral college
It is important that your request was received by us on time and complete, with all required documents. The deposit also had to be received on time. If this was not the case, the central electoral committee will not process your request for the next election (2023). You will receive a confirmation of receipt of your registration request. This will state the deadline by which the central electoral committee expects to make a decision on your request. The decision will be made public in the Water Board Bulletin, which can be viewed at www.officiëlebekendmakingen.nl .
