Clean water

Water Experience

In summer, many people have fun in and on the water in North Holland such as while canoeing, supping, swimming and boating.

Do you think clean water is important too? Then you can do something yourself to keep it clean: don't flush junk down the drain, only flush the 3 p's down the toilet(poop, peeand toilet paper) and clean up litter. Want to know what else you can do? Then take a look at the tips.

What do we do?

We make sure that the dirty water from your toilet, sink or bathroom is treated at one of our sewage treatment plants and then returned to the ditch cleaner. We do this for all residents (in North Holland above the North Sea Canal) and also for companies. We purify sewage water with 15 sewage treatment plants. Bacteria ensure a natural purification process. With new innovations we also extract more and more energy, raw materials and micro-pollutants from the sewage water.

Because, what actually happens when you flush the toilet or shower? We'll show you how it works at a sewage treatment plant (rwzi).

What can you do?

Fortunately, there are also several ways you yourself can contribute to clean water in and around your home. Consider: picking up litter so it doesn't end up in the water, and only flushing the 3-P's down your toilet (toilet paper, peeand poop).
