The deflowering of life

My painting is mainly based on the photo I took during a drawing excursion to the Fish Circle where I took a picture of a beautiful riparian flower and a bee. I myself always love walking through an environment richly surrounded by flowers and plants. Partly because of this, I decided to paint this riparian flower.

In addition, the painting also reminded me of my own theory that I once came up with. My self-devised theory is called "the flower theory" in which I state that the (introverted) human being is just like a flower. Namely, in order for a tiny, tiny plant to bloom, the plant needs love and attention. In this case, of course, love implies love for flowers and nature, and attention implies proper care for the plant. If we apply this concept to people I have noticed, especially to myself, that this largely corresponds to bonds between people. If a (mainly introverted) human being receives enough attention, affection and love from another human being, he will gradually open up to another person and, as it were, just like a flower, it will emerge. In my painting, the flower is central to the process of man's opening up to someone else and the bee symbolizes the one who gives the other person attention, affection and love through his devotion and affection. So this is symbolized by the bee's touch on the flower.
