VSGM sludge processing

The company VSGM has received funding from the Water Innovation Fund to increase the continuity of the processing process with their machines for the circular processing of sludge from sewage and water treatment. Processing sludge with VSGM's technology creates a new material that can be used as a raw material in the construction industry, including as a cement substitute.
Hoogheemraadschap Hollands Noorderkwartier, together with the National Green Fund, set up the Water Innovation Fund (WIF) in 2018 to bring innovations in the fields of sustainable energy, circular economy, water quality and water safety to the market at an accelerated pace. The innovative companies can come from all over the Netherlands, but their product or idea must also be applicable to HHNK. The technique of VSGM (Van Slib Grondstof Maken) fits in perfectly with this. With the financing to be provided by the Water Innovation Fund, the existing installation will be adapted to process larger quantities of sludge and the specific characteristics of Dutch sludge. VSGM is the third project to be financed from this fund.
VSGM uses an innovative method for circular processing of sludge from sewage and water treatment. Today, sludge is still processed in incinerators, composted or landfilled, resulting in CO2 emissions or pollution. Processing sludge with VSGM's technology creates a new material that can be used as a raw material in the construction industry. In addition to very low CO2 emissions, this technology also has almost no nitrogen emissions. This so-called MID MIX technology has been patented worldwide. In large parts of Europe, MID MIX is now being marketed by VSGM.
