2027 Water Board Elections

On March 17, 2027, there will be another Water Board election in the Netherlands. The Water Board has a democratically elected board. You can run for a seat on the board. Important dates

Before the new board can be installed, there are a number of steps that need to be taken. The timeline below shows what needs to be completed by when in order to have a new board in place by 2027.

  1. Still to do: Candidate Information Sessions - Completion date

    The HHNK Candidate Information Sessions for the water board elections are scheduled for May 19 (online), June 4 (online), and June 23 (in-person meeting at the Heerhugowaard office).

  2. Still to do: Registration designation - Completion date

    December 21, 2026, is the last day to register a candidate for the water board elections. 

  3. Still to do: Nomination Day - Completion date

    February 1, 2027, is the deadline for filing candidacies for the water board elections.

  4. Still to do: Election Day - Completion date

    March 17, 2027, is the day of the water board elections. 

  5. Still to do: Election results - Completion date

    The official election results will be announced on March 25, 2027.

  6. Still to do: Installation - Completion date

    The new board of directors will be installed on March 31, 2027.
